An army of caterpillars (peacock butterfly?) enjoying some nettles on a small patch of allotment left to grow wild to encourage wildlife. Spotted in late June on the east side.
A pristine Red Admiral spotted early August at an east side plot. Buddlia in full bloom attracting various butterfly species to my plot—Painted Lady, Red Admiral, Comma and Cabbage Whites all at large. Nicola east side
Spotted in early August on an east side plot. I counted nine of these on a neighbour's lavendar patch the same day, beautiful but flighty. Nicola, east side
From plot holder Esme: a picture of what I think is a yellow underwing moth caterpillar (though not certain)—spotted 13th May, east side—I think they do potentially eat various veg, but also dandelions and other 'weeds'! Find out more about the lesser yellow underwing moth (Noctua comes) here.
