Spring OnionChop these little alliums without tears — the mild, sweet spring onion, or scallion, is an easy to grow catch crop that can be sown all the way through to August (for overwintering next spring’s crop).Sow thinly half an inch deep from March to September in rows four inches apart. Repeat sow every few weeks for a regular supply.
Thin until they are about one inch apart. Water if dry. Harvest when about six inches and very tasty. Use in salads, cheese and onion sandwiches, stir fries and all kinds of cooking. They are such a great flavour enhancer.
