Blackcurrant ‘Ebony’The sweetest of them all. Plant just one Ebony this month and you will be able to harvest blackcurrants ready to eat straight off the bush by early July (it’s an early one).
Self fertile, and mildew resistant, it should be ordered bare root for planting before end March. Prune old wood when dormant in winter, leaving new shoots to fruit in summer. Every four years or so, prune out spindly branches, leaving an open structure of 6 to 8 shoots. This variety can grow up to 1.5 metres tall and the same wide. It can be grown as a bush or against a wall. The supplier below offers a discount—so if we anyone would like to make a communal order and save £1 (the full price of £8.95 is already keen compared to other suppliers) please contact us through the website. This offer is open until 20 January. https://www.victoriananursery.co.uk/Blackcurrant_Bush_Ebony/ |
